I had a four-day weekend during Diwali, the most important celebration for Hindus, and probably of all India. I traveled to Kaziranga with a friend. We were looking forward to spending some time around nature. We took a flight from Delhi to Guwahati, and from there, a travel agency helped us arrange transportation, lodging and safaris.
Kaziranga National Park in Assam is home to the one-horned rhino, and many other species. Unfortunately, during 2017, the monsoon caused severe floods and many animals died. When we visited in October, things seemed back to normal, but one area of the park was still closed. We could visit the central and west areas, and got a glimpse of the rich wildlife. We saw many rhinos, wild elephants, deer, wild boar, water buffaloes, and many species of birds.
