Fatehpur Sikri, Uttar Pradesh

I made a day trip Fatehpur Sikri the first weekend of October. Located 35 km from Agra, this walled city has a very interesting history. It was founded in 1569 by Mughal Emperor Akbar. It took approximately 15 years to be built, and it served as the capital of the Mughal Empire since 1571 to 1585. It was abandoned due to the exhaustion of the small lake that supplied the city with water. I wonder how they could overlook something so basic! Anyway, Fathepur Sikri is a wonderful example of the high point of Mughal architecture.

Outside the walled city, you will find the mosque, built by Shah Jahan in 1648, which rivals in beauty with the Jama Majisd in Old Delhi.
